Cleaning companies no longer have to rely on unsafe or questionable products. In the last half of the 2oth century, low price was the most important factor in the formulation of cleaning products. In more recent times, public awareness concerning unsafe products has led to the discovery of better and safer detergents and spotting agents. In some instances, natural products from the past have made a comeback. Orange-based oils are replacing toxic petroleum-based spotting solvents. Hydrogen Peroxide has been rediscovered as an effective stain removal product. We are constanly testing and evaluating the many new all natural cleaning agents as they come to market. There is no need to use toxic, unsafe products. We even have organic detergents at our disposal for people with allergies and chemical sensitivities. Because we work with these products 6 days a week, our exposure is thousands of times greater than our customers. The produts we use have to be safe! My name is Charles Cannistraci. In 1981 I started working for a commercial carpet cleaning company as a way to pay my way through college. I was cleaning Red Lobster and Charlie Brown Restaurants all through the night. Later I apprenticed with a firm that specialized in the "high end" residential market. This is where I learned our "quality instead of quantity" approach to service. In 1985 an opportunity to sub-contract for my first employer became available and Service One was born. In the beginning sub-contracting allowed me to develop a customer following while still maintaining a steady income. As Service One grew, I devoted my energy into providing top notch service with an old fashioned work ethic. I never believed in high pressure sales tactics and was suspicious of the products and techniques used to sell them. These factors led to the development of our all natural approach. In 2001, my wife DonnaLee joined the business as a way to stay home with our children and provide a higher level of customer service. A former CPA and HR expert, she brings the professionalism she learned in the corporate world to Service One as our office manager. We are a small business running one truck. We have always relied on referrals as our main source of obtaining new customers. Our philosophy is that a job well done is worth more than a hundred advertisments. We will only expand when we can guarantee that our level of service is maintained. Initially based in Essex County, we moved to Morris County in 1999 and relocated to Warren County in 2007, while maintaining a customer base in all three counties.

Service One is different than most carpet cleaning companies in several ways. We do not believe in high pressure or add-on sales. When possible, we prefer to give an in-home price quote as opposed to an over-the-phone estimate. This ensures that we know your specific needs. It also allows us to give you, our customer, an exact cost for the work to be performed. An added benefit is you will meet the person who will perform the work prior to scheduling an appointment. Currently all work is performed by the owner. We will not bring undocumented illegal workers into your home. We respect your privacy and security as if it were our own. Some cleaners call their process all natural or non-toxic when in reality the carpet protector they are trying to sell you has been called a possible carcinogen by the EPA. We are different kind of business: We put our customers first!

There are two major ways that carpet cleaning companies price their services. The first is by the item; the other is by measuring. An example of item pricing is "3 rooms for a $100" or "$29.95 per room". Item pricers are not interested in seeing the work up front, but merely want to schedule the appointment. This enables them to get their foot in the door. Once in your home, they may use several tecniques to increase the price. Sometimes the price doesn't include furniture moving or there is an addtional charge for pre-conditioning. Preconditioning is a fancy term for soap! This way of doing business is called "bait and switch". They "bait" you with a low price then "switch" to a higher one by selling additional services or products. Since they are pricing by the room or item they must compensate for time by rushing the job. These companies are focusing on increasing the "ticket price" rather than providing a quality service. We price by the square foot. We will come to your location, measure and provide you with a firm price. Since we are charging for each square foot cleaned, we can clean each square foot properly without rushing. Customers are often suprised at the amount of time we invest in each job. In the long run our service costs less. The results are better, more thorough, and longer lasting. You are getting what you pay for! Following is an outline of our pricing structure.

Carpet cleaning: Residential $0.30- 0.45 per sq ft
Commercial $0.15- 0.30 per sq ft
Upholstery Cleaning $ 10- $18 per running foot (by the length)
Tile Cleaning $0.50- $1.00 per sq ft

Final determination of price is based upon type of carpet, degree of soiling, and time needed to process the job. We encourage our customers to use this outline to measure and estimate cost. Use an average of the price ranges listed above.
